This garden was started in 2007 through the combined efforts of Boone County Family Resources, the Community Garden Coalition, garden neighbors from the Columbia Center for Urban Agriculture and AmeriCorps volunteers. Raised beds were built at wheelchair height for the benefit of disabled gardeners. Composting enclosures were added in 2008 by Sustain Mizzou as part of their project to compost kitchen waste from MU, transporting by bike.
In 2021, with their purchase of the property, Love, Columbia became the new owners of the property and have been active in helping rehab the garden while it continues to provide food for the community. Volunteers or potential gardeners looking for a plot or raised bed here are encouraged to contact Eric Lorenz.
