If you have more kale than your family can eat or you’re swimming in extra squash this summer, don’t let it go to waste. There are many local food pantries and shelter kitchens who would be happy to accept your extra harvest. To make it easier to donate, consult our list of pantries that can take fresh vegetables with contact info and hours.
To encourage more gardeners to donate, we’re announcing our Donation Challenge prize drawing. To be eligible to win, all you have to do is donate community garden-grown produce and then report your donation amount using the form below. It doesn’t matter how much or how little you donate, everyone who reports a donation will be entered in a drawing for a $50 gift certificate to Westlake’s Ace Hardware.
We’ll have two rounds of our contest, one in midsummer and one in the fall. For this first round, you must report your pounds of donated food by July 15.
We’ve moved on to the fall round of our Donation Challenge. Please see the current post to report donations for late summer and fall.
