Garden Leader Profile: Ann Bromstedt

Two years ago, the staff at Kilgore’s Medical Pharmacy observed that a large number of local children were coming to their pharmacy with ailments that could be controlled by eating a healthy diet. Ann Bromstedt, owner of Kilgore’s, decided to take action and donated land next to their Providence location.  With help from other local gardeners and the Columbia Center for Sustainable Agriculture, Bromstedt and Kilgore’s staff have turned what used to be an empty lot into a thriving garden complete with raised beds and fruit trees.

All produce and proceeds earned from the garden are donated to the Nora Stewart Early Learning Center. As the garden continues to grow, Granny’s House will be added as a recipient.

Bromstedt loves working with the garden, watching the people and the garden grow as their ideas turn into a “storm of community involvement.”
