For gardeners at CGC member gardens, warm season transplants will be available this weekend at Claudell Garden:
Saturday, May 18 • 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Sunday, May 19 • Noon-3 p.m.
We will have tomatoes, peppers and other warm weather favorites available as well as seeds and row cover by the foot. Small donations are requested, but not required.

The Columbia Public Library is offering a free class “Help Your Garden Survive This Summer” Wednesday, May 15, 7 p.m. about about shade, mulch, watering and other key summer gardening issues. Find out about this and other gardening classes at the library here.

The CGC (along with the Columbia Center for Urban Agriculture, Peaceworks’ Center for Sustainable Living, Centro Latino, Salvation Army and Terra Nova Community) is sponsoring the 2013 spring Edible Columbia Tour and Dinner, Sunday, May 19, 2-5 p.m.  Advance tickets are required and are for sale at the Peace Nook, 804-C East Broadway; there is a sliding scale. Please call (573) 875-0539 for more info.

Introduction to Canning and Preserving at MU Extension Center, 1012 N Hwy UU
MU Extension is offering some great classes in Home Food Preservation. Classes meet Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. between June 12 and July 17(5 sessions in all). Registration deadline is June 6; register early as classes fill quickly.
