On August 28, folks around the world will be celebrating World Kitchen Garden Day, “an annual, decentralized celebration of food produced on a human-scale.” Late August is great time to plan a party and enjoy all those ripe tomatoes and peppers. Get some ideas here for ways to celebrate. And let us know in the comments if you’re planning an event.

The indubitable ParrotHeads are once again donating part of the proceeds from this annual fundraiser to the Community Garden Coalition. If you have an interest in supporting community gardening and a mere $10-12 in your pocket, consider going to their concert fundraiser April 21, 6-11 p.m. at MoJos.
Scheduled to perform are Steve Meyerhardt, Rocket & Doc, Crazyfish, & Banastre Tarleton. The evening will also benefit True North and Welcome Home (for Veterans). To find out more, watch the video below or visit this link.
I just heard today that Ninth St. garden has no more plots available. If you’d like to be put on the waiting list, contact the garden leader, Leslie at leslie.schneider@courts.mo.gov.

Please note, the St. Joseph community garden is all full for this year, with a waiting list. As mentioned in a previous post, the Benton-Stephens garden is also full for 2011 at this point.
There are still plots to be had at other gardens, though, so get your applications in today!
