If you’re interested in starting a new community garden in your neighborhood or at your school, church, or agency, join us for an informational meeting.

This meeting will provide basic information about how the CGC works, how to get started, and how other groups in our community organize and manage their gardens. Those with an interest in starting a garden and those who have land available for a garden are encouraged to attend.

Learn about the ebb and flow of life beneath the surface and its relationship to what you grow! The class will meet at the Peace Nook, followed by a brief bio-brew demonstration at St. Joe Community Garden. Taught by Meghan Keeler, gardener, permaculturalist and community volunteer.
This Saturday, April 11, come to a free workshop on composting starting at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph garden.
The Columbia Center for Urban Agriculture will show you how to manage backyard compost piles for your home and garden. Come see some tricks of the trade, and learn how to optimize your efforts to yield high quality soil amendments!

The Columbia Farmer’s Market and MU Extension are hosting an afternoon of free presentations about local food production this Saturday, April 4, 1-4 pm at the Unity Center. Get more information and read about all the great speakers and sessions.
The Circus Lyon garden has arranged the following two workshops. All community gardeners are welcome to attend.
Alice Havard will talk on Saturday March 28 at 10 am at the Circus Lyon Garden for about a half hour on Succession Planting and Companion Planting. The Circus Lyon Garden is located 1 block south of the cross walk at Jefferson Jr. High School.
On Saturday April 11, Adam Saunders will talk at 10 am at the St. Joseph garden on Composting. The St. Joseph garden is located 2 blocks north of Broadway and 1 block west of College Ave.
