Chipotle will generously donate 50% of the proceeds from your purchase to the CGC when you come in and show this flyer (on paper or on your phone) 4-10 p.m.

Community Garden Night at Chipotle
Help your local community gardens raise a little money for water, straw, seeds, tools and all those other gardening essentials. The folks at Chipotle on Ninth St. are helping us out with a fundraiser night Friday, August 23. Just take a copy of the flyer linked below in with you to the restaurant (or show it on your phone, tablet, mini-computing device, etc.) from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. and the CGC will get 50% (!) of the proceeds from your purchase.

A Fun Event Next Saturday
Join Refugee and Immigration Services – CCCNMO and the Adult Learning Center for a celebration of World Refugee Day at Broadway Christian Church, home of a vibrant community garden.
July 20, 2013 at 5 p.m.at Broadway Christian Church
Learn about other cultures, enjoy games, delicious food and take a peek at the garden while you’re there. This is a great event for families.
Composting Workshop July 13
Learn how to improve the compost at your community garden or start composting at your home. The City of Columbia is offering another composting workshop Saturday, July 13 at Capen Park.
Urban Orchard Event June 25
If you’d like to learn about growing fruit at your home or community garden, don’t miss the next event in the free Urban Orchard series. The Mid-Summer Fruit Review is happening Wednesday, June 26 at 4 p.m, led and hosted by Jim Quinn from University Extension. A walk around Jim’s garden (at the corner of Broadway and Anderson) will feature fruit development or success with crop, disease symptoms and insect damage, control (or lack of) of diseases, etc. Berries from Jim’s garden will be featured in Jello, with some interesting flavor and berry combinations.
The event is free; just email Booneco@missouri.edu with how many people plan to attend.
Workshops on Composting & Pests
Don’t forget to register for this Thursday’s Walk and Talk workshop on garden pests at Circus Lyons garden.
In addition, there are two composting workshops coming up this week:
- The Southern Boone County Public Library in Ashland is offering a worm composting class Friday, June 21 at 2 p.m.
- The City of Columbia is offering a free composting workshop Saturday, June 22, 10 a.m.-Noon at Grindstone Nature Area.
Garden Cruise THIS Saturday
Don’t forget to RSVP for the Community Garden Coalition birthday celebration and garden tour this Saturday! We’d like to know who’s coming by Wednesday, June 12. It’s especially designed for biking, but we welcome drivers, too, and you’ll enjoy a tasty lunch from Comedor Popular at the end. Happy 30th, CGC!
Let’s Talk Pests
The next Community Garden Twilight Walk and Talk is coming up on June 20, 6:30 p.m. at the Circus-Lyons Community Garden.
